Social Media (Look at the irony)

"he pulled his phone out from the old, washed out, blue  jeans' sidepocket he's wearing that day, murmuring 'this will do' as he opened the camera application. *clicks, he studied the first snap, oh crap, innit too bright, dim the light, lest the bite wont last, he thought followed by pout.
Second photo, he was not aglow, where's the beau!, the curmudgeon self cameoed.

He walked towards the bench, sat down, looking wary and disappointed, he lit a cigarette curing his fret. Another thought intefered, 'Aint this shallow, taking pictures to show, unenjoying the present to show to self?'

......

As the sun skimmed down the horizon, showering the earth with its bronze shades and golden streaks while the moon emboldened from its daylight pique, he took one final drag, overwhelmed with the tranquility, he let himself embraced by the serene dusk and the picturesque view."

"Sometimes, we need to just 'be', be there, be present and be in the moment. "

Living with the same nine-to-five routines, in the hustle-bustle of a fast moving city, a breather is really all we need to escape from the suffocating reality, the clutters and its comrades and more often than not, we resort to social media and treat it as our only mean to seek for comfort, escapades and apparently, it worked, it does help untangling the webs of fiasco.

Notwithstanding the the above, unfortunately as in the case these days, over-abundance of social media has made us to be over-dependent on it. We latched our souls and lives onto it, it's basically the new global epidemic. I definitely cannot list out all the powers and benefits of social media have to offer but scrutinizing it from whole different light, we depend so much to it like living a day or two without it can actually kill us. For instance, this one here maybe subtle to some but for others, their preferences diverted following the mass, they do not have a firm stance to stand and it snatches away their abilities to analyse things and worst, some are even basing their confidence level and self-esteem in social media. This is slowly but surely will consumed them inside out.

Things that can be experienced with nour senses are no longer enjoyed and instead, there is a notion that 'it' must be recorded or pictured using 'who-has-the-latest-smartphone' to serve as proofs to their friends and fiends that they have 'been there, done that'. Sadly, more and more people have fallen into this trap and some even chose to jump into this bandwagon themselves.
The real question here is do we really enjoy ourselves in that very moment when our minds are pre-occupied with questions like 'Will people like this' and 'what angles do I need to take to enhance its features?', so on and so forth. Pardon me for the harsh remarks, I try not to nag and pour out advises but I guess it came out wrong.

Personally, I also often use social media to express my opinions, reporting stuffs and reaching out larger audiences as per this post here but to justify things, I don't really enjoy it myself thus came out this idea and article. Now,  ask yourselves, do social media really satisfies our insatiable soul? (It's human nature to mourn, mean and ungrateful on ourselves, some may already mastered the ability to be thankful but I am sorry, I honestly haven't) but seriously Does it?

*P/s: The writer is truly sorry for the obvious stereotyping and generalization but he does not know the correct way to put what he has in mind into words except with this.
